Independent School

The Sanatana Independent School, a not-for-profit institution, will follow the NSW Curriculum. Morning meditation will incorporate breathing exercises and yoga daily before commencing academic/sporting/music lessons. In addition, there will be morning prayers after lighting the lamps, which has always been a reflection of illuminating one's soul. This morning routine charges the young mind by activating their parasympathetic system. Over time, regular practice will result in neuronal changes (neuroplasticity), leading to optimal observation and learning during class and when events do not transpire as the student expected.

Story so far

HEACC has identified 5 acres of land in Oakville and has deposited ten per cent in February 2023. Intensive fundraising efforts have begun to raise the remaining balance in the next few months.

Australian Independent School, a membership body for not-for-profit schools, has been approached to understand the school registration process. HEACC aims to submit the registration to the curricular body NESA March 2025 and commence school in January 2026.

Co-curricular Activities

Investing in children’s curiosity through the STEM lab, where they can begin small science experiments, master their attention appropriately on devices and explore the natural environment, will yield dividends. In addition, the centre will introduce coding and robotics in the STEM lab in the primary years. After all, their future roles will be in innovation.

The benefits of a bilingual brain are manifold. Each student will learn English and their mother tongue. If their native language is English, then they will choose another. A third language of Sanskrit, Latin, will be encouraged to understand modern languages' origin and comprehend ancient texts.

As in mainstream schools, weekly sports classes will occur. Every student will try out for summer and winter sports teams. In addition, they will compete in the GPS-like competition every Saturday. Additional sports, such as badminton, kabaddi and kho kho, will also be available. For students, music or dance lessons can occur during class. Students are encouraged to learn an instrument (vocals inclusive) or a dance form. Experienced music and dance masters will teach Carnatic and Hindustani Classical dance, instruments and vocals with Western classical art forms.

Extracurricular activities

Students attend the cultural centre for folk arts, martial arts, Indian visual arts, garland making, rangoli, and STEM activities such as coding, robotics, and graphics design.

Social service will be a significant theme as acts of kindness lead to well-adjusted youth. Each student will either mentor students in the stage below them, play with the childcare children, or receive elder mentorship.

They will run projects to fundraise for the school's health or social justice causes. Such an experience will broaden their worldview, improve their connectivity across various age groups and make them ready for employment or be future employers
